ABOUT CANDIDATE

Charles
Ellis

My name is Chuck Ellis, and I’m a Mainer through and through. I grew up in small-town Athens, and my family, like many in Maine, faced its share of challenges. We relied on food stamps and second-hand stores, but my parents instilled in us the importance of hard work and the value of education.
My journey took me from humble beginnings to a successful career in banking, where I’ve witnessed the impact of policies on Mainers from all walks of life.
From the challenges faced by those living on the streets to the responsibilities shouldered by business leaders, I understand the impact of policy on every level.
Growing up in rural Maine, I learned the value of hard work and community. With a background in mathematics, I transitioned from a Christian leadership role into a banking career, where I developed a passion for helping others with financial challenges.
Encouraged by friends and guided by my faith, I felt a strong calling to serve my community in a new way. I’ve always believed in addressing real-world problems with practical solutions, rather than adhering strictly to party lines. That’s why I’m focused on the issues that matter most to me and my community: education, homelessness, addiction, and affordable housing.

Why I'm Running

While I align with certain Republican values like family, economic responsibility, and personal freedom, I’m more interested in finding solutions that work in reality. My goal is to craft legislation that considers long-term impacts and unintended consequences, ensuring that we’re truly benefiting the people of Maine.
Running for office wasn’t something I initially planned, but I’ve come to realize that people like me—who are willing to make sacrifices for the greater good—are needed now more than ever. My background in banking taught me to be a problem solver, and I want to bring that skill set to Augusta to tackle Maine’s most pressing issues.
In my 2024 campaign, I’m concentrating on improving education, addressing homelessness and addiction, and making housing more affordable.
I will work hard for the people of Maine to roll back laws that are harmful to both the people and the economy. When crafting legislation, I will seek to ensure that we’re considering the unintended consequences and long-term big-picture impact of those policies.
It would be my honor to serve the people of Westbrook and work hard for our shared future.
